Kurdish Regional Governance
The Kurdish Regional Governance refers to the autonomous political structure established in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. This governance system was formalized after the 2005 Iraqi Constitution, granting the region significant self-rule, including its own parliament and president. The government manages local affairs, including education, health, and security, while still being part of the broader Iraqi state.
The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is responsible for the administration of the region, which is predominantly inhabited by the Kurdish ethnic group. The KRG has its own military forces, known as the Peshmerga, and engages in economic activities, particularly in the oil sector, to support its governance and development initiatives.
