They have a rich cultural heritage and a deep connection to their ancestral lands, which include areas around the San Diego region. The Kumeyaay people traditionally engaged in hunting, gathering, and agriculture, utilizing the diverse resources of their environment.
Today, the Kumeyaay Nation is composed of several federally recognized tribes, each with its own governance and community programs. They work to preserve their language, traditions, and history while also engaging in economic development through ventures such as casinos and tourism.
