Kryashens
The Kryashens are a small ethnic group in Russia, primarily found in the Republic of Tatarstan. They are descendants of the Volga Bulgars and Tatars, and their culture is a blend of Tatar and Russian influences. The Kryashens traditionally speak the Tatar language and practice Islam, although some also follow Orthodox Christianity.
Historically, the Kryashens have faced challenges in preserving their unique identity. Many have assimilated into the broader Tatar and Russian communities, leading to a decline in the use of the Kryashen language. Efforts are ongoing to revitalize their culture and traditions, including music, dance, and crafts.
