Korean American History
Korean American history began in the early 20th century, with the first significant wave of immigration occurring in 1903. Many early immigrants were laborers who worked on the West Coast, particularly in the Hawaiian sugar plantations. The Korean War in the 1950s led to increased immigration, as many Koreans sought refuge and better opportunities in the United States.
The 1965 Immigration Act further opened doors for Korean immigrants, leading to a diverse community that includes students, professionals, and families. Today, Korean Americans contribute to various fields, including business, arts, and politics, enriching the cultural landscape of the United States.
