Kingdom of Pontus
The Kingdom of Pontus was an ancient Greek state located on the southern coast of the Black Sea, in what is now modern-day Turkey. It was established in the 3rd century BCE and became a significant power in the region, especially under the rule of Mithridates VI, who expanded its territory and influence.
Pontus was known for its rich natural resources, including fertile lands and valuable minerals. The kingdom engaged in trade with neighboring regions and was involved in various conflicts, particularly with the Roman Republic. Ultimately, it was absorbed into the Roman Empire in the 1st century BCE.
