King Zhou
King Zhou, also known as Zhou Xin, was the last ruler of the Shang Dynasty in ancient China. He reigned during the 11th century BCE and is often depicted as a tyrant. His rule is characterized by cruelty, extravagance, and a disregard for the welfare of his people, which ultimately led to widespread discontent.
His reign ended when he was overthrown by King Wu of the Zhou Dynasty around 1046 BCE. The fall of King Zhou marked the transition from the Shang to the Zhou Dynasty, which introduced new governance and cultural practices that shaped Chinese civilization for centuries.
