King Yayati
King Yayati is a prominent figure in Hindu mythology, known for his role in the epic Mahabharata. He was a Kuru king, famous for his desire for youth and the pleasures of life. Yayati was granted the boon of eternal youth by the god Indra, allowing him to enjoy life to the fullest. However, he eventually realized the futility of his desires and sought redemption.
Yayati's story also involves his sons, particularly Puru, who willingly exchanged his youth for his father's old age. This act of sacrifice highlights themes of duty and familial bonds in Indian culture. Yayati's tale serves as a moral lesson about the consequences of unchecked desires.
