King Lothair of Italy
King Lothair of Italy, also known as Lothair II, was a ruler during the 9th century. He was born around 835 and became king in 850, governing the northern part of the Italian Peninsula. Lothair was a member of the Carolingian dynasty, which was founded by Charlemagne, and he was the grandson of Louis the Pious.
Lothair's reign was marked by conflicts over territory and power, particularly with his brothers. He struggled to maintain control over his kingdom amid the fragmentation of the Carolingian Empire. Lothair died in 869, and his death led to further divisions in Italy, impacting the region's political landscape for years to come.
