King James IV
King James IV was the King of Scotland from 1488 until his death in 1513. He was the son of King James III and became king at a young age after his father's defeat. James IV is known for his efforts to strengthen the Scottish monarchy and improve relations with other countries, particularly through marriage alliances.
During his reign, James IV promoted the arts and education, establishing St. Andrews University in 1413, Scotland's first university. He also supported exploration, notably sending John Cabot on voyages to the New World. His reign ended when he died at the Battle of Flodden against the English in 1513.
