King George Tupou V
King George Tupou V was the king of Tonga from 2006 until his death in 2012. He was born on May 4, 1948, and was the son of King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV. Educated in New Zealand and Australia, he was known for his modernizing efforts in the Tongan monarchy.
During his reign, King George Tupou V introduced significant political reforms, including the first democratic elections in Tonga in 2010. He was also recognized for his philanthropic work and efforts to improve the welfare of his people, promoting education and health initiatives throughout the kingdom.
