King Eric of Pomerania
King Eric of Pomerania was a monarch who ruled over the Kalmar Union, which united the kingdoms of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden during the late 14th and early 15th centuries. Born around 1382, he became king of Denmark in 1396, later assuming the crowns of Norway and Sweden. His reign was marked by efforts to strengthen the union, but it faced challenges from local nobility and external threats.
Despite his initial successes, Eric's rule became increasingly unpopular, leading to his deposition in Sweden in 1434. He continued to claim the title of king until his death in 1459, but his legacy is often viewed as a complex mix of ambition and conflict within the Scandinavian region.
