King Christian VII of Denmark
King Christian VII of Denmark reigned from 1766 to 1808. He was born on January 29, 1749, and became king at a young age. His reign was marked by mental health issues, which affected his ability to govern effectively. As a result, much of the power was held by his advisors, particularly the influential statesman Johann Friedrich Struensee.
During his reign, Denmark experienced significant changes, including the introduction of reforms aimed at modernizing the state. Struensee implemented progressive policies, such as promoting freedom of the press and improving education. However, his influence led to political turmoil, and he was eventually overthrown in 1772, leading to a more conservative government.
