King Alexander of Greece
King Alexander of Greece was born on July 1, 1893, and became the king in 1917 after his father, King Constantine I, abdicated. His reign was marked by the tumultuous period of World War I and the subsequent Greek Civil War. Alexander was known for his efforts to stabilize Greece during these challenging times.
Tragically, his reign was cut short when he died on October 25, 1920, due to complications from a monkey bite. His death led to political instability and the eventual restoration of his father to the throne. Alexander's brief rule is often overshadowed by the events surrounding his family and the nation.
