King Constantine I of Greece
King Constantine I of Greece was born on August 2, 1868, and became the King of Greece in 1913 after the assassination of his father, King George I. He played a significant role during World War I, initially supporting the Allies but later favoring neutrality, which led to political turmoil in Greece.
In 1920, Constantine I was forced to abdicate due to pressure from the Allies. He returned to the throne in 1921 but was again deposed in 1922 after Greece's defeat in the Greco-Turkish War. He died in exile on January 11, 1923, in Italy, leaving a complex legacy in Greek history.
