King Alexander I of Greece
King Alexander I of Greece was born on August 1, 1893, and became the king in 1917 after the abdication of his father, King Constantine I. His reign was marked by significant political turmoil and the aftermath of World War I, during which Greece expanded its territory.
Alexander I's rule ended abruptly when he died on April 25, 1920, from an infection caused by a monkey bite. His death led to a power struggle in Greece, ultimately resulting in the restoration of his father, King Constantine I, to the throne. Alexander's brief reign is often overshadowed by the political instability of the era.
