Khalid bin Barghash
Khalid bin Barghash was a prominent leader in the late 19th century, known for his role as the Sultan of Zanzibar. He ascended to the throne in 1890 after the death of his cousin, Sultan Ali bin Said. His reign was marked by tensions with the British Empire, which sought to exert control over the region.
In 1896, Khalid bin Barghash led a brief but significant conflict known as the Anglo-Zanzibar War. This war lasted only 38 minutes, making it one of the shortest recorded wars in history. Following his defeat, he fled to German East Africa, where he lived in exile until his death in 1927.
