Kerensky Offensive
The Kerensky Offensive was a military campaign launched in June 1917 during World War I by the Russian Provisional Government, led by Alexander Kerensky. The goal was to regain momentum on the Eastern Front against the Central Powers, particularly Germany and Austria-Hungary. The offensive aimed to boost morale and support for the Provisional Government, which was struggling with internal unrest.
However, the offensive quickly faltered due to poor planning, lack of supplies, and low troop morale. Soldiers were demoralized by the ongoing hardships of war, leading to widespread desertions. The failure of the Kerensky Offensive significantly weakened the Provisional Government and contributed to the rise of the Bolsheviks later that year.
