Brusilov Offensive
The Brusilov Offensive was a major military campaign launched by the Russian Empire during World War I in June 1916. Named after General Aleksandr Brusilov, the offensive aimed to break through the Austro-Hungarian lines on the Eastern Front. It was notable for its innovative tactics, including surprise attacks and the use of infiltration techniques, which initially led to significant Russian gains.
Despite early successes, the offensive eventually stalled due to logistical issues and strong counterattacks from the Central Powers. The campaign resulted in heavy casualties on both sides but is often regarded as one of the most successful Russian offensives of the war, showcasing the capabilities of the Russian Army.
