Keratoconus
Keratoconus is a progressive eye condition where the normally round cornea thins and bulges into a cone shape. This irregular shape distorts vision, causing problems like blurred or distorted sight, sensitivity to light, and difficulty seeing at night. It typically affects both eyes, although one may be more severely impacted than the other.
The exact cause of keratoconus is not fully understood, but it may involve genetic factors and environmental influences. Treatment options vary based on severity and can include glasses, contact lenses, or surgical procedures like corneal cross-linking to stabilize the cornea and improve vision.
