Kennedy Half Dollar
The Kennedy Half Dollar is a fifty-cent coin that was first minted in 1964 to honor President John F. Kennedy after his assassination. The coin features a profile of Kennedy on the obverse side and the Presidential Seal on the reverse. It was designed by Gilroy Roberts and Frank D. Gasparro.
Initially made of 90% silver, the coin's composition changed in 1971 to a copper-nickel blend due to rising silver prices. The Kennedy Half Dollar remains in circulation today, although it is more commonly collected than used for everyday transactions.
