Gilroy Roberts
Gilroy Roberts was an American engraver and coin designer, best known for his work on the United States coinage. Born on May 24, 1905, he created the iconic John F. Kennedy half dollar, which was first issued in 1964 following the president's assassination. His designs are celebrated for their artistic quality and attention to detail.
In addition to the Kennedy half dollar, Roberts also designed the Washington quarter and contributed to various medals and commemorative coins. He served as the Chief Engraver of the United States Mint from 1948 to 1965, influencing American numismatics during a significant period in history.
