Kavantissa
Kavantissa was a notable king of the ancient kingdom of Ruhuna in Sri Lanka. He ruled during the 2nd century BCE and is recognized for his efforts to strengthen the kingdom against external threats, particularly from the Tamil invaders. His reign is often associated with the promotion of Buddhism and the construction of various religious sites.
Kavantissa is also known for his role in the unification of Sri Lanka under a single rule. He was the father of Dutugemunu, a famous king who later expanded the kingdom and is celebrated for his military conquests and contributions to the island's cultural heritage.
