Karthala
Karthala is an active volcano located on the island of Grande Comore in the Comoros archipelago. It stands at approximately 2,361 meters (7,747 feet) and is one of the largest volcanoes in the Indian Ocean. The volcano has a large caldera, which is about 3.5 kilometers wide, formed by previous eruptions.
The last significant eruption of Karthala occurred in 2005, producing ash and lava flows. The area around the volcano is rich in biodiversity, featuring unique flora and fauna. Karthala is also a popular destination for hikers and nature enthusiasts, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
