Karluk
The Karluk was a wooden ship used for Arctic exploration in the early 20th century. Built in 1913, it was part of the Karluk Expedition, led by Vilhjalmur Stefansson to explore the Canadian Arctic. The ship became trapped in ice in 1914, leading to a challenging survival situation for the crew.
After being trapped for several months, the crew attempted to reach land on foot. Tragically, many members faced harsh conditions, and only a few survived. The Karluk remains a significant part of Arctic exploration history, highlighting the dangers faced by explorers during that era.
