Kargil War
The Kargil War was a conflict between India and Pakistan that took place in the summer of 1999. It occurred in the Kargil district of the Indian-administered region of Jammu and Kashmir. The war began when Pakistani soldiers and militants infiltrated the Indian side of the Line of Control, leading to intense fighting in the mountainous terrain.
The conflict lasted for about two months, resulting in significant casualties on both sides. India successfully recaptured most of the territory, and the war ended in July 1999. The Kargil War highlighted the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly over the disputed region of Kashmir.
