Karen people
The Karen people, also known as the Kayin or Karenni, are an ethnic group primarily found in Myanmar and Thailand. They belong to the larger group of Tibeto-Burman languages and have a rich cultural heritage, including traditional clothing, music, and dance. The Karen are known for their unique customs and practices, which vary among different sub-groups.
Many Karen people have faced challenges due to political conflicts in their home regions, leading to displacement and migration. As a result, significant Karen communities exist in refugee camps and urban areas in Thailand and other countries. Their resilience and strong sense of identity continue to shape their communities and cultural expressions.
