Karel IV
Karel IV, also known as Charles IV, was a significant historical figure who ruled as the King of Bohemia from 1346 and later became the Holy Roman Emperor in 1355. He is remembered for his efforts to strengthen the Czech lands and promote culture, education, and trade. Karel IV founded the Charles University in Prague, which is one of the oldest universities in Europe.
Karel IV was also known for his diplomatic skills, forging alliances through marriages and treaties. His reign marked a period of prosperity and stability, contributing to the development of Gothic architecture in the region, including the construction of the iconic Charles Bridge in Prague.
