Kaamatan
Kaamatan is a traditional harvest festival celebrated by the Kadazan-Dusun people in Sabah, Malaysia. It usually takes place in May and marks the end of the rice harvest season. The festival includes various cultural activities, such as traditional dances, music, and food, showcasing the rich heritage of the Kadazan-Dusun community.
One of the highlights of Kaamatan is the Unduk Ngadau beauty pageant, where young women compete to be crowned the harvest queen. The festival also features rituals to honor the rice spirit, known as Bambaazon, reflecting the deep connection between the people and their agricultural practices.
