Jute Fiber
Jute fiber is a natural fiber obtained from the stem of the jute plant, primarily Corchorus capsularis and Corchorus olitorius. It is known for its strength, durability, and biodegradability, making it an eco-friendly choice for various applications. Jute is commonly used to produce burlap, sacks, and ropes, as well as in the textile industry for making rugs and carpets.
The cultivation of jute is mainly concentrated in countries like India and Bangladesh, where the warm and humid climate is ideal for its growth. Harvesting typically occurs during the monsoon season, and the fiber is extracted through a process called retting, which involves soaking the stems in water to separate the fibers from the woody parts.
