Jurchen People
The Jurchen people are an ethnic group originally from northeastern China, primarily in the region known as Manchuria. They are historically significant for founding the Jin Dynasty in the 12th century, which ruled over northern China and challenged the Song Dynasty. The Jurchens spoke a language belonging to the Tungusic family and had a rich culture that included unique customs and traditions.
Over time, the Jurchens assimilated into the larger Manchu identity, especially after the rise of the Qing Dynasty in the 17th century. Today, they are recognized as one of the ethnic minorities in China, with many descendants still residing in the northeastern provinces. Their history reflects the complex interactions between different cultures in East Asia.
