June Days Uprising
The June Days Uprising was a workers' revolt that took place in Paris, France, from June 23 to June 26, 1848. It arose in response to the closure of the National Workshops, which provided jobs for the unemployed following the February Revolution. The uprising was marked by violent clashes between the workers and the government forces.
The government, led by Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte, responded with a strong military crackdown. The uprising was ultimately suppressed, resulting in thousands of deaths and arrests. The June Days Uprising highlighted the social tensions in France and foreshadowed the challenges of the Second Republic.
