Jugurthine War
The Jugurthine War (109-105 BCE) was a conflict between the Roman Republic and the Kingdom of Numidia, led by King Jugurtha. The war arose from political disputes and power struggles in Numidia, as Jugurtha sought to consolidate his control over the region. The conflict highlighted issues of corruption within the Roman political system, as some Roman officials were bribed to support Jugurtha.
The war involved several Roman generals, including Gaius Marius and Lucius Cornelius Sulla. Despite initial Roman setbacks, the conflict ultimately ended with Jugurtha's defeat and capture in 105 BCE. The war had significant implications for Roman military and political reforms in the years that followed.
