Judicate of Arborea
The "Judicate of Arborea" was a historical political entity located in the region of Sardinia, Italy, during the Middle Ages. It emerged around the 10th century and was known for its unique governance system, which combined elements of feudalism and local autonomy. The Judicate was ruled by a judex, or judge, who held both judicial and administrative powers.
Arborea was one of several judicates on the island, alongside Cagliari, Gallura, and Logudoro. It played a significant role in the island's resistance against external powers, including Pisa and Aragon. The Judicate's influence waned in the late 14th century, leading to its eventual annexation by the Crown of Aragon.
