Juan de Salcedo
Juan de Salcedo was a Spanish conquistador born in 1560 in the Philippines. He is best known for his role in the Spanish colonization of the Philippines and for being one of the first to explore the northern regions of the archipelago. Salcedo was the grandson of Miguel López de Legazpi, the first governor-general of the Philippines.
Salcedo led several military expeditions, notably in Luzon, where he established Spanish control over various territories. He is credited with founding the city of Vigan in 1572 and played a significant role in the spread of Christianity among the local population. His efforts contributed to the expansion of Spanish influence in the region.
