Juan Seguín
Juan Seguín was a prominent figure in the early history of Texas. Born in 1806 in San Antonio, he was a Tejano leader who played a crucial role in the Texas Revolution against Mexico. Seguín served as a captain in the Texian Army and was one of the few Tejanos to support the fight for independence, participating in key battles such as the Battle of San Jacinto.
After Texas gained independence, Seguín became the first mayor of San Antonio and served in the Texas Senate. He worked to promote the rights of Tejanos and ensure their representation in the new government. Despite his contributions, Seguín faced challenges and eventually left Texas due to political tensions.
