Juan Bautista de Toledo
Juan Bautista de Toledo was a Spanish architect born in 1515. He is best known for his work on the El Escorial, a monumental complex located near Madrid, which served as a royal palace, monastery, and burial site for Spanish kings. De Toledo was influenced by the Renaissance style and incorporated elements of classical architecture into his designs.
De Toledo studied in Italy and brought his knowledge back to Spain, where he became the chief architect of El Escorial in 1563. His innovative designs and attention to detail made a significant impact on Spanish architecture, and he continued to work on the project until his death in 1567.
