Jozef Miloslav Hurban
Jozef Miloslav Hurban was a prominent Slovak writer, politician, and journalist born on March 19, 1817. He played a significant role in the Slovak national revival during the 19th century, advocating for Slovak language and culture. Hurban was also a key figure in the establishment of the Slovak National Council and contributed to various literary and political movements.
In addition to his political activities, Hurban was a prolific author, writing novels, essays, and poetry that highlighted Slovak identity. He was closely associated with the Matica slovenská, an important cultural institution aimed at preserving Slovak heritage. Hurban passed away on February 21, 1888.
