Joseph Kony's Lord's Resistance Army
The Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) is a militant group that originated in northern Uganda in the late 1980s. Led by Joseph Kony, the LRA aimed to establish a theocratic government based on a mix of Christian beliefs and traditional African customs. The group is notorious for its brutal tactics, including the abduction of children to serve as soldiers or sex slaves.
Over the years, the LRA has been involved in violent conflicts not only in Uganda but also in neighboring countries like South Sudan, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Central African Republic. Despite international efforts to capture Kony and dismantle the LRA, the group remains active, continuing to commit human rights abuses and instilling fear in local communities.
