Jose S. Palma
Jose S. Palma was a prominent Filipino poet, journalist, and educator, best known for his contributions to Philippine literature. He was born on February 3, 1876, in the town of San Fernando, Pampanga. Palma is most famous for writing the lyrics to the Philippine National Anthem, titled "Lupang Hinirang," which was composed in 1899.
In addition to his literary work, Palma was an active participant in the Philippine Revolution against Spanish colonial rule. He served as a member of the Katipunan, a revolutionary society, and later became involved in politics. Palma's legacy continues to influence Filipino culture and nationalism.
