Katipunan
The Katipunan is a revolutionary society founded in the Philippines in 1892. Its full name is "Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan," which translates to "Association of the Sons of the People." The organization aimed to gain independence from Spanish colonial rule and played a crucial role in the Philippine Revolution.
Led by figures like Andres Bonifacio, the Katipunan sought to unite Filipinos against oppression. Members were required to take an oath of loyalty and secrecy, and they used symbols and rituals to strengthen their bond. The group's efforts ultimately contributed to the Philippines' fight for freedom and the establishment of a national identity.
