José Mujica
José Mujica is a former president of Uruguay, serving from 2010 to 2015. Known for his humble lifestyle, he lived on a small farm and donated a significant portion of his salary to charity. Mujica is often referred to as "the world's poorest president" due to his simple way of living and commitment to social justice.
Before his presidency, Mujica was a member of the Tupamaros, a leftist guerrilla group in the 1970s. He spent nearly 15 years in prison for his political activities. After his release, he became involved in politics, eventually leading the Broad Front, a left-wing coalition, to victory in the 2009 elections.
