John of Gaunt
John of Gaunt was a prominent English nobleman and a member of the royal family during the late 14th century. Born in 1340, he was the third son of King Edward III and Philippa of Hainault. Gaunt played a significant role in the politics of his time, serving as a military leader and a key advisor to the crown.
He was also the Duke of Lancaster, and his lineage became important in English history, particularly during the Wars of the Roses. John of Gaunt was the father of Henry IV, who would eventually become king, establishing the Lancastrian dynasty.
