John de la Pole, 1st Duke of Suffolk
John de la Pole, 1st Duke of Suffolk was an English nobleman born in 1442. He was the son of William de la Pole, 1st Earl of Suffolk and Alice Chaucer, the granddaughter of the famous poet Geoffrey Chaucer. John became a prominent figure during the Wars of the Roses, a series of civil wars for control of the English throne.
In 1483, he was created the Duke of Suffolk by King Richard III. John de la Pole was a supporter of the Yorkist claim to the throne and was involved in various political intrigues. He died in 1492, leaving behind a legacy tied to the tumultuous history of England during that era.
