John Wilbarger
John Wilbarger was an American frontiersman and soldier born in 1810 in Virginia. He is best known for his experiences during the Texas Revolution, where he served as a soldier and later became a prominent figure in the early settlement of Texas.
Wilbarger is particularly noted for his survival story after being captured by Comanche warriors in 1837. He endured a harrowing ordeal, including being tortured, but eventually escaped and returned to his community. His experiences contributed to the understanding of frontier life and the conflicts between settlers and Native American tribes during that period.
