John Murray, 5th Duke of Atholl
John Murray, 5th Duke of Atholl (1755-1830), was a Scottish nobleman known for his role in the management of the Atholl estate in Scotland. He succeeded his father, the 4th Duke, in 1774 and became a prominent figure in the Scottish peerage.
The 5th Duke was also notable for his involvement in the British Army, serving as a major-general. He was a supporter of the British government during the Napoleonic Wars and contributed to various military efforts. His legacy includes the preservation of the Atholl family heritage and the enhancement of the estate's lands.
