John Murray, 3rd Duke of Atholl
John Murray, 3rd Duke of Atholl (1729-1774), was a Scottish nobleman known for his role in the {Jacobite} uprisings. He succeeded his father, the 2nd Duke, in 1764 and became the head of the {House of Atholl}. His tenure was marked by his efforts to manage the family's estates and maintain their influence in Scotland.
The 3rd Duke was also notable for his involvement in the {British Army}. He served as a lieutenant-colonel and was appointed as the commander of the {Atholl Highlanders}, a regiment formed from his own estate. His leadership contributed to the preservation of the family's legacy in Scottish history.
