John Murray, 2nd Duke of Atholl
John Murray, 2nd Duke of Atholl (1713-1774), was a Scottish nobleman known for his role in the {Jacobite} uprisings. He succeeded his father, the 1st Duke of Atholl, in 1724 and became a prominent figure in Scottish politics and society. His estate included the vast lands of {Atholl} in the Scottish Highlands.
The 2nd Duke was also a supporter of the {British Crown} and played a significant role in the {Battle of Culloden} in 1746, where he fought against the Jacobite forces. He was known for his efforts to modernize his estates and improve agricultural practices in the region.
