John Landy
John Landy is an Australian middle-distance runner, best known for being the second person to officially break the four-minute mile barrier. He achieved this remarkable feat on June 21, 1954, in Turku, Finland, with a time of 3:57.9. His accomplishment came just 46 days after Roger Bannister became the first to do so.
In addition to his running career, Landy served as the Governor of Victoria from 2001 to 2006. He was also a prominent figure in athletics, contributing to the sport as an administrator and mentor. Landy's legacy continues to inspire future generations of athletes.
