Joaquim Nabuco
Joaquim Nabuco was a prominent Brazilian politician, diplomat, and writer born on August 19, 1849. He is best known for his strong opposition to slavery in Brazil, advocating for its abolition. Nabuco played a significant role in the abolitionist movement, which culminated in the end of slavery in 1888 with the Golden Law.
In addition to his activism, Nabuco served as a member of the Brazilian parliament and was appointed as Brazil's ambassador to the United States. His literary works, including his autobiography, reflect his deep commitment to social justice and his vision for a more equitable society in Brazil.
