Jigme Singye Wangchuck
Jigme Singye Wangchuck is the fourth king of Bhutan, who reigned from 1972 to 2006. He is known for his visionary leadership and the introduction of the concept of Gross National Happiness, which prioritizes the well-being of citizens over economic growth.
During his reign, he modernized Bhutan while preserving its unique culture and traditions. He also initiated democratic reforms, leading to the establishment of a constitutional monarchy in 2008. After abdicating the throne in favor of his son, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, he continued to play a significant role in Bhutan's development.
